The three eldest siblings were born in India and the two younger ones in Ukraine. All were home-schooled by their father, Michael Jaffray King (British) and Mother, Irmgard King (German).
Due to being born in many different countries, all siblings own a number of different passports. They are also fluent in four different languages (English, German, Russian & Polish).
They have two younger sisters, Jemima and Michelle King which currently reside in Cologne, Germany with their parents.[1]
KING is an urban/pop band from the UK. The band consists of 5 siblings, Michael, Marieangela, Jasmina, Natalia, and David Lucius King. They were all born in different parts of the World.
In 1997, their father, Michael Jaffray King, started their professional singing careers by forming a Christian pop band.
In their early years, they started singing in pedestrian zones to earn money. Later they performed at festivals, TV and radio shows in several countries. During a stay in Nashville, TN, Word Entertainment/Sony (USA) offered them a million dollar contract which was, however, rejected by their parents due to the young age of the children.[2]
In 2007 they formed their own band called "King Family" and started writing/producing their own songs. They were soon signed to EMI Capitol in Germany.[3]
In January 2008, their debut single "Carry Me Home" was released and made it into the German Single Charts. Only three months later the album of the same name, as well as the second single "Perfect Day" appeared, which also reached a position in the charts. A tour through Germany, TV appearances and numerous public performances followed.[4]
In June 2009, the band members parted ways with EMI. They renamed their band to "KING" and moved to the US to pursue their musical careers. This move was supported by the American music manager Doc McGhee.[5] The German TV channel VOX documented this journey for their series Goodbye Deutschland! Die Auswanderer.
They now reside in Hollywood, CA, where they are currently recording their 2nd album and working on television projects.
While living in Ukraine, they gave concerts in schools, hospitals, churches, prisons, and orphanages. They also worked together with various charity organizations such as International Committee of the Red Cross, and Caritas (charity).
